Introducing Health First
When Dr Penny Fraser first moved to Geneva in 2004, she regularly received questions about various medical problems from friends, parents and other child carers. She soon realised that there was a need for high quality, formalised training covering common childhood health problems and First Aid in her native English. So Dr Penny created and developed a “Child Illnesses and Injuries” course. This was piloted in June 2008 and subsequent courses were quickly oversubscribed.
She met Dr Michelle Wright in November 2008 through Dr Michelle’s radio show “Health Matters” on World Radio Switzerland. The two British-trained doctors soon discovered that they shared a passion for delivering health education and training and HealthFirst was born. Since then, their team of British and American-trained doctors, nurses and midwives have trained over 5000 people in First Aid and Basic Life Support throughout the country.
As well as First Aid training, HealthFirst delivers in-house Health Screening Assessments and Health Education seminars for companies and organisations and also Sex and Relationship Education for international school students. With their office in French-speaking Switzerland, they now have First Aid trainers and Health Educators based out of Basel and Zug so that the team are able to deliver courses and seminars Swiss-wide.
HealthFirst have two courses coming up at the Lili Centre. Knowing that people with some basic knowledge and skills can save lives and reduce the impact of an injury or illness, they are keen to share their passion for First Aid training and Health Education with you.
