Starting this Friday evening the Schloss Meggenhorn (in Meggen) will be hosting ‘Klang Musiktage’: a 3 day musical event taking place in beautiful surroundings! There are various types of tickets available with the option to include an apéro & dinner. Further details can be found here. The event takes place from Friday 30 June until Sunday 2 July.
Also happening this weekend is the Weggis Rose Festival (from Friday 30 June until Sunday 2 July). The festival has countless bars, snacks and entertainment options to cater for all tastes as well as a fairground, live music, and a big firework display on Saturday evening at 22:30. The event is suitable for all the family and a festival pass costs just CHF 15.- per person (children under 14 are free). For the second year in a row the ‘Battle of Lucerne‘ will be taking place at the Strandbad Lido in Luzern! In this competition, 96 athletes (48 mixed teams) will compete against each other in two categories (Rx / Scaled): the full programme can be found here. Spectators can watch the action as well as enjoying food and drinks in the sponsorship area! The event starts at 10:00am and more information can be found on the official website.
Those interested in botany can join a walking tour this Saturday on the Rigi! A knowledgeable guide will show you how to spot beautiful and rare flowers as well as providing interesting facts and information about the indigenous plant species. Depending on the state of flowering, this guided hike takes about three hours. The tour departs at 10:00 from ‘Rigi Staffel’. Solid shoes and suitable clothing are essential as the event takes place in all weather conditions. Best of all the tour is free and participants will also receive a reduced fare on the cablecars from Weggis, Goldau & Vitznau. For more information please click here.
Perfect for a rainy day, the Natural History Museum (Natur-Museum) in Luzern currently has an exhibition entitled ‘Wild auf Wald’. The exhibit is all about forests and the diverse and important role they play. Forests provide not only wood for energy consumption but also a diverse habitat for birds and animals as well as water storage, protection against erosion and avalanches and much more!
