With so much going on this weekend you’ll be spoilt for choice! Here’s our guide to help get you started…
The Lucerne Regatta 2017 is taking place this weekend (Friday – Sunday) down at the Rotsee. Established in 1903 the Lucerne Regatta Association has been organising rowing events in Luzern for more than 100 years and have been using the Rotsee as a venue since 1933. Thanks to sponsor Frey + Cie admission to the event is free! You will only need to purchase a ticket if you wish to sit in the Grandstand on Sunday; those tickets can be purchased in advance, online here. Rock ’n’ Roll Cruise: This Friday, why not take to the water onboard a party ship for a fun evening of music and dancing! A welcome drink, summer pasta salad ‘à discrétion’ and a ticket for the afterparty to be held at the Casineum (Grand Casino, Luzern) are included in the price. Guests are welcomed onboard from 19:00 and the boat will depart punctually at 20:00 for a sunset cruise, returning to the dock at 01:00. ‘Street Food Days’ – World Food Festival is taking place this Friday evening at the Emmen Centre. It is the first of 4 foodie events to be hosted at the Centre and the theme for this Friday is ‘Around the World’! With a huge variety of food stalls to choose from you will be spoilt for choice! The event takes place on the forecourt of the Emmen Centre and is open from 17:00 – 23:00. More information can be found here.
As part of their summer holidays programme the Historisches Museum Luzern are offering theatre tours for kids! There are a whole variety of tours to choose from: as a dragon explorer they’ll be hunting dragons and other fabulous creatures, or perhaps solving the riddle of the armoury as a knight, or looking for buried treasure as a pirate! The Rivella Summerslide is ready for action this weekend at the Luzern Lido (Lidostrasse 6A, 6006 Luzern): from Friday until Sunday, 10:30 – 20:00 daily! Tickets cost from CHF 5.- for a single slide and can be brought in advance, online here. At 15m high and 32m long the slide is the largest free-standing waterslide in Europe! And with a gradient of 31 degrees, 4 lanes and 3 different kickers to choose from it is sure to be the ultimate adrenaline kick!
Another idea to keep the kids entertained: the Natural History Museum (Kasernenpl. 6, 6003 Luzern) are hosting a special holiday quiz aimed at children!
