There are some big events happening in Luzern this weekend including the world famous Blue Balls Festival and the Swiss National Circus is back in town!
The Blue Balls Festival 2017 starts this Friday and runs until Saturday 29th July. With over 100,000 visitors, the festival is one of Switzerland’s largest music and art events. This international music event presents more than 100 acts over nine days including blues, jazz, soul, funk, world, rock and pop concerts, accompanied by photography, street art, video, film and talks. The event is hosted at a variety of venues around the lake including the Open-Air Pavilion, the KKL and the Hotel Schweizerhof. The line up this year includes trip-hop legends Morcheeba, Samm Henshaw, David Gray, Jake Bugg, Crystal Fighters, Macy Gray and many more! Also on Friday, the Emmen Centre will be hosting another Street Food Night and this time the theme is ‘Asian Special! So if you are a fan of Asian food and looking for an easy dinner option don’t miss this event. More details can be found on the official website. Entrance is free and the venue is open from 16:00 – 23:00.
The Swiss National Circus: Circus Knie is back in town until Sunday 6th August at the Allmend, Luzern. The circus, which is the largest in Switzerland, was founded in 1803 by the Knie family and has existed in its present form since 1919 when it changed from an open arena to a covered tent. Circus Knie has been long famous for its animals and now operates both a zoo (Knie’s Kinderzoo) and a museum in Rapperswil.
