The city may be significantly quieter this weekend but there is still plenty to do in and around Luzern!
Did you know that one of the largest cave systems in the world is less than an hours drive from Luzern? The Hölloch cave system in Muotathal is over 200km long and reaches depths of over 900m! And on Friday morning (9:30) you can join a tour of this fascinating hidden world, led by Trekking Team AG. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of caves and learn more about the history of Hölloch, its formation, as well as the various rock types and cave dwellers. The exciting tour takes you through various corridors of the cave system, which were first discovered more than a hundred years ago. This activity is suitable for families (children from 9 years), couples & individuals. Please note however there are areas where you will have to climb, crawl, or even squeeze through some of the narrow spaces (not recommended for those who suffer from claustrophobia!) This Friday you can enjoy an evening of delicious Fondue or Raclette and a scenic boat trip; a great activity for a cold winters night! The ship departs at 19:00 from Luzern Brücke 1 and the trip lasts 2 1/2 hours (returning at 21:47). Reservations must be made in advance (before 15:00 on Friday afternoon) and tickets start from CHF 67.- per person. For more information click here.
The Repair Cafe at the Neubad in Luzern (Bireggstrasse 36, 6003) will be open this Saturday from 11:00 – 15:00 with volunteers on hand to help fix your broken bike, electronic devices, clothes, furniture etc! The idea being to repair everyday ideas instead of simply throwing them away. Admission is free so why not drop by with an item to be repaired and enjoy a coffee and a chat at the same time1! Donations for repairs are welcomed…
Early Saturday evening (17:00 to 21:00) is your chance to try your hand at Flamenco dancing, Salsa, Cha Cha or Bachata for free at the Salsa Magica Dance school. The workshops are free.
On Saturday evening (20:00 -23:00) at the B&B Bettstatt Bar in Luzern (Neustadtstrasse 10, 6003) you can enjoy an evening of songs, stories and silliness with Katie O’Connor & Steven Sharpe and their act ‘To Gaze Upon Us’! The pair are two of Ireland’s most famous gay musicians and first joined forces in April 2017 when they preformed together at the Róisín Dubh in Galway!
