It’s Easter and that means a long weekend and as always there’s plenty to keep you entertained in the city of Luzern!


The Natur-Museum, Luzern (Kasernenplatz 6, 6003) will once again be hosting their Easter chick exhibition, which runs from 29. March to 8. April.  This year however the exhibition will be less ‘hands-on’ as due to changes made to Swiss animal welfare legislation on 1st January 2018 visitors are no longer permitted to handle the chicks! But you can still witness close up when the egg shell breaks open, the chick hatches and when the baby chick takes it’s first steps into chicken life! This is entertainment for all ages! From 29. March to the 9. September 2018 the Historisches Museum, Luzern (Pfistergasse 24, 6003 Luzern) will be hosting a special exhibition dedicated to Queen Victoria of Great Britain to celebrate the 150th anniversary of her visit to Switzerland! (She famously stayed at the Hotel Gütsch and they have a suite named in her honour to this day!) Her visit to Switzerland was during her period of seclusion when she was in deep mourning for Prince Albert. She made the journey partly in remembrance of her husband who had visited in 1837 and had been enthusiastic about the country. During her five week stay she took many excursion in the central Switzerland region including crossing the Furka Pass to see the Rhone glacier. Looking for an alternative to all the chocolate and sweet treats this Easter? OM Shanti Yogaschule (Löwengraben 15, 6004) will be hosting a special ‘Hatha Yoga Easter Retreat’ from Friday 30. March – Tuesday 3. April! The event will take place at the Seminar-Hotel Rigi in Weggis overlooking the Vierwaldstättersee! Full details, including the pricing, can be found here.


Surely no Easter weekend is complete without creating your own chocolate Easter bunny?! Chocolate lovers will be pleased to hear that visitors to the ’Schoggi Easter world’ at the Chocolat Schönenberger AG (Täschmattstrasse 10, 6015 Luzern Reussbühl) can do just that! Test your skills as a chocolatier and create a wonderful gift for a loved one! Fun for kids and adults alike! The ‘There Are Worse Bands Festival’ takes place this weekend from 29. March until 1. April! The event, which originally began as a who’s who of the Luzern music scene, has now grown to include not only local but also regional, national and international bands! On Sunday from 10:00 – 16:00 the Chalet Schild (Scheideggstrasse 1, 6356 Rigi Kaltbad, Luzern) will be hosting a special Easter brunch! With homemade bread and regional specialties this is an ideal way to start the day! A reservation is recommended and can be made online here. The Verkehrshaus (Lidostrasse 5, 6006 Luzern) are currently hosting a special exhibition dedicated to gamers and the world of video games! This includes a ‘Star Wars Augmented Reality’ experience, Formula E Virtual Reality Racing, Red Bull MindGamers and more! A visit to the Media World is included in the standard Museum ticket, however, a separate Media World only ticket is also on offer and costs CHF 16.- for adults or CHF 7.- for children (aged 6 to 16).
