The Riviera Latina Festival in Weggis kicks off this Friday! The festival, which has taken place each year everbsince 2006 when the Brazilian national football team trained in Weggis for the World Cup, is a three-day fiesta of unforgettable salsa, dance and concerts! Suitable for all the family, there are also special activities and workshops for kids such as ‘Zumba for kids’ on Saturday and Sunday. Details of the full programme can be found here. A festival pass costs just CHF 30.- and can be brought online here (day passes are also available). Each year the festival supports a different organisation and this year it’s ‘niños jugando‘; a charity committed to volunteering for socially and financially disadvantaged children and adolescents in Latin America.
On Saturday from 8:00 – 16:00 there is a bread market at the Kapellplatz in Luzern. It is organised by the Pfistern Zunfthaus Restaurant, which centuries ago was the meeting point for the guild of bakers, millers and sailors in the city. There will be a variety of breads and pastries available for purchase (many of which are locally produced), including breads cooked in a wood-burning oven, Berliners, cigar donuts, waffles, pizzas and cheese slices. Also happening on Saturday morning, the Swiss Skills Academy will be hosting the first of a two-part workshop about Social Media Marketing and Personal Branding. The workshop takes place at the Lili Centre (Alpenquai 40a 6005) and will take an in-depth look at social media marketing and its importance. To find out more click here. Starting Saturday afternoon and continuing until Monday 21. May is the Tango Festivalito 2018! A festival dedicated to Tango dancing, with various workshops and events taking place across the city. You can find out more information here or by checking out the Facebook page.
On Sunday at the Neubad (Bireggstrasse 36 6003 Luzern) is the ‘Strandgut’ Flee Market from 10:00 – 16:00. Strandgut refers to items that are carried by ocean currents and wash up on beaches. Hidden treasures and urban flotsam can be found at the flea market! The Neubad invites you to sell, haggle, browse and buy. From antiquarian books, crafts, bags, shoes and clothes, technology and tools, music and lamps … one persons junk is another persons treasure! Entrance is free. For more information click here.
