The 10th annual ‘Luzernerfest’ will be taking place this weekend starting Friday 29. June and continuing until Saturday 30. June! As always they have a full line-up of local and national musical talent with performances taking place across the city! The full programme can be found here, including a map showing the locations of the various stages. There is also a ‘Kinderfest’ for families taking place on Saturday afternoon from 13:00 – 18:00 which includes a treasure hunt (register online here), a large wooden play park, a special photo booth and lots more fun activities! And on Saturday evening at 22:30, 23:30 & 00:30 you can catch the ‘Lumination Seehof’ an animated light show created by students of the ‘Lucerne University of Applied Sciences – Design & Art’ and ‘Talent Development Music Canton Lucerne’, which will be projected on to the buildings surrounding the Schwanenplatz. More information can be found on the official website and remember to support the event by purchasing a Festival Badge, which costs just CHF 10.- and entitles you to free access to all the attractions! Proceeds go to supporting social organisations and projects in the canton of Lucerne. Lastly, for anyone planning on driving through Luzern on Saturday please note that the Seebrücke and Schweizerhofquai will be closed from 17:00 on Saturday (30. June) until 05:00 on Sunday morning (1. July)!
On Saturday afternoon Quai4 will be hosting a ‘Sommer in der Stadt Party’ (summer party in the city) from 14:00 – 22:00 with live DJ’s, food stalls (including vegetarian and vegan options) and summer smoothies! If you are looking to unwind and relax this Saturday evening the Spa at the Rigi Kaltbad is open for ‘Summer Night Bathing’ from 19:20 – 22:30! Admission costs CHF 60.- per person and includes access to the mineral baths, happy hour with Prosecco, as well as tea and other refreshments. For more information please visit the website.
At the end of May 2014 Georg Schramm ended his tour as a solo cabaret artist with the last performance of “Meister Yoda’s End – On the misuse of dementia” at the Casinotheater des Pantheon in Bonn. Now he returns for a performance at the first ever Kulturhof Summer Festival with a reading of his texts. Entrance is CHF 40.- and you can find out more information here. The apple is considered to be the king of fruits; not only as a food but also as an important cultural symbol! To celebrate it’s importance the Natur-Museum (Kasernenpl. 6, 6003 Luzern) has dedicated a special exhibition to the fruit, which runs until the 11. November. The programme features several supporting exhibitions including ‘Apfel Im Focus’, created by photographer and master florist Priska Trautwein. Presented through the medium of photography visitors can follow the apple through it’s life cycle and through the seasons. To find out more information please click here.
And finally, on Sunday evening dance school Flamencotacon (St. Karlistrasse 4 – 6004 Luzern) will be hosting ‘Tu Si Flamenca’ an evening of flamenco and tapas!
