Zirkus Knie will be setting up their Big Top at the Allmend (6005 Luzern) this month from Friday 6. – Sunday 22. July. Founded in 1803 by Friedrich Knie, it is now one of the oldest circus companies in Europe and employees more than 230 people! Tickets start at CHF 20.- and can be brought online here. For families it’s worth noting that entrance for children (ages 3 – 12) is half price on Sunday’s, public holidays and at afternoon performances before 18:00. The Kulturhof Sommer Festival (Diebold-Schilling-Strasse 13, 6004 Luzern) ends this Saturday, so if you haven’t had a chance to check it out then this is your last opportunity! From 20:00 – 21:30 on the Heubühne will be ‘Die grosse Menschenschau’ a series of short monologues by different actors. Entrance is CHF 30.-, for more information click here.

Build, play, discover! From the 4. July – 31. August the Media World at the Verkehrshaus (Lidostrasse 5, 6006 Luzern) will be hosting a special exhibition dedicated to Toy-Cons! What are Toy-Cons? They are essentially accessories for the Nintendo Switch that you can build yourself! If you would like to find out more you can take part in a free Nintendo Labo workshop this Saturday at the Verkehrshaus! Participants will have the chance to try out a range of Toy-Cons from a homemade piano to a folding fishing rod. To register online click here.


This Sunday (from 8:00 -17:00) is the Rigi Schwing- & Älplerfest taking place at Rigi Staffel! One of the longest-held traditions of the village of Arth it is a wrestling and mountain festival which takes place each year during the month of July! Thousands of spectators gather to watch competitors wrestle in the specially prepared arena.  The event promises to have a great atmosphere, plenty of food and drink options as well as a stunning view – what more could you want for a day out?  Don’t miss the chance to witness a truly Swiss spectacle!
