Friday is Apfelwähen day in canton Luzern! Apfelwähen (prounounced APfel-VAY-heh) is a traditional Swiss style apple tart – a sweet pastry case filled with sliced apple and custard then baked. The Mövenpick Weinmesse in Luzern takes place on Friday from 16:00 until 20:30 at the Grand Casino (Haldenstrasse 6, 6006 Luzern)! Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with over 40 exclusive producers from the world’s major growing regions – and there will be over 250 varieties of wine on offer to taste, compare and order! On Friday evening (from 20:00) there is an Irish Folk Festival taking place at the KKL in Luzern (Europaplatz 1, 6005 Luzern)! Successfully touring Europe for the last 45 years – hundreds of thousands of visitors have come to know, understand and appreciate Ireland and its culture through the Irish Folk Festival. On Saturday evening (20:00) the Engadiner Kantorei ensemble will be preforming at the Franziskanerkirche (Franziskanerplatz 1, 6003 Luzern). Entrance is free, there will be a collection on the door.
Also on Saturday evening there is a drum & bass night happening at Klub Kegelbahn (Baselstrasse 24, 6003 Luzern). Entrance is CHF 20.- and the lineup includes: Loxy (Renegade Hardware, Metalheadz, Exit Records) [UK], Blackleaf [AUT] & Meester Krizz (4TON). More information can be found on the Facebook page. The major event taking place this Sunday is the Lucerne City Marathon with over 10,000 runners expected to take part! Information about the event can be found on the official website… If you’re not planning on running then be sure to head down and cheer on those who are – the atmosphere in the city will be buzzing!
“Feel the Music” – is a Musical-Gala taking place this weekend (Saturday 27. October – Sunday 28. October) in Luzern & Emmenbrücke! With approximately 50 singers preforming pieces from the “Phantom of the Opera”, “Cats”, “Mamma Mia”, “Lion King”, “Grease”, “Tarzan” among others! The concerts are led by Walter Eigenmann and Markus Wüthrich and will take place at the Pfarreiheim in Emmen (Kirchfeldstrasse 10, 6032 Emmen) and the Paulusheim in Luzern (Moosmattstrasse 4, 6005 Luzern). Entrance is CHF 25.- for adults and CHF 10.- for children (aged 14 & under) -more information can be found on the website .
Circus Nock, the oldest circus in Switzerland, is in town at the Allmend (6005 Luzern) from Tuesday 23. October until Sunday 4. November! The Nock family dynasty can be traced back to the 17th century and since 1860 the family has travelled through Switzerland preforming to audiences! Tickets can be brought online here.
