On Friday afternoon is an event dedicated to Kyrgyz poet Tschingis Aitmatov, who would have turned 90 on 14. December this year. It takes place at the Schappe – Saal Kulturquadrat in Kriens (Obernauerstrasse 1, 6010 Kriens) and entrance is CHF 25.-
This Thursday and Friday is the Swiss Ice Hockey ‘Lucerne Cup’ at the Eiszentrum in Luzern (Eisfeldstrasse 2, 6005) and if Switzerland win on Thursday then they will qualify to play in the final on Friday against either Russia or Slovakia! A special package deal is available to fans which includes a 2 hour boat trip on the lake, 3-course meal and match tickets to watch the Swiss national team. This Friday evening at the Stadkeller (Sternenplatz 3, 6004 Luzern) Groofty Power Band & Jessica Ming will be preforming live! Their repertoire includes hits by Santana, Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Status Quo, Deep Purple, the Beatles and more! Entrance is CHF 25.- and tickets can be brought online here.
Starting this Saturday (15. Dec) and continuing until Friday (21. Dec) is Jeder Rappen zählt in Luzern! The “JRZ” glass box will once again return to the Europaplatz in front of the KKL Luzern to collect money for homeless children worldwide! On Saturday evening in front of the Hofkirche St. Leodegar (St. Leodegarstrasse 6, 6006 Luzern) is ‘Eine Million Sterne’ (a million stars). The event takes place in over 100 locations across Switzerland and at 16:00 over 2000 candles will be lit in front of the Church to raise awareness for people living in poverty. Following this will be a special service at 17:15 and a Christmas concert at 19:30. The proceeds of the event will go to Caritas relief organisations for affected families throughout Switzerland. On Sunday the European Outdoor Film Tour (E.O.F.T.), the largest film event of the European outdoor community, will be stopping at the Mehrzweckhalle Allmend (Murmattweg, 6005 Luzern)! For ten years now the event has been following the extreme sports scene and compiling the world’s best adventure and outdoor sports films to create a programme that covers all facets of outdoor sports. Advanced tickets cost CHF 24.- and can be brought online here. The event lasts between 2.5 – 3 hours and there will be two screenings (the first starting at 15:00 and the second at 19:00). Finally on Sunday evening is the ‘Luzerner Adventssingen’ at the Kornmarkt (6004 Luzern). The event starts at 17:00 with Samichlaus leading the procession from the Kapellplatz to the Kornmarkt then at 17.30 the lights will go out around the Kornmarkt as the crowds gather to sing Christmas carols led by the Gospel Singers Stans and accompanied by brass band Albatros!
