On Friday evening (20:30) at the Stadtkeller (Sternenplatz 3, 6004 Luzern) Swiss rhythm’n’blues band ‘Blues In The Shoes’ will be preforming live! They will be covering hits from Jeff Healy, Eric Clapton, BB King, Gary Moore, Del Amitri, Lenny Kravitz, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers & more! Tickets cost CHF 28.- and can be brought online here. The ‘Klang-Musiktage’ takes place at the Schloss Meggenhorn (6045 Meggen) with a series of classical music concerts preformed in the grand surroundings of the castle! On Friday evening (17:45 – 19:15) the Kandinsky Ensemble will be preforming works by Paul Juon (a Swiss composer of both Bündner and Russian descent), Carl Frühling (an Austrian composer and pianist born in Lviv) and Johannes Brahms. The Ensemble consists of Fabio Di Càsola – clarinet, Thomas Grossenbacher – cello and Benjamin Engeli – piano. On Saturday afternoon you can join one of the City’s guided tours and learn all about Christmas traditions in Switzerland! Take a stroll through the city and learn about the secrets of Samichlaus and the Christkind, how the Christmas Tree found it’s way into our front rooms and much more! The tour begins at 16:00 from the Tourist Information at the main train station (Zentralstrasse 5, 6003 Luzern). Tickets cost CHF 25.- and can be brought online here


Something for families, on Sunday afternoon (16:00) the Filmtheater at the Verkehrshaus will be screening ‘Der Kleine Prinz’ a film based on the imaginative story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry! This award winning animated film appeals to all ages. Please note the screening will be in German. Tickets cost CHF 19.- and can be brought online here.


Monday is of course New Years Eve and there will be plenty happening in the city of Luzern! Here are just a few suggestions to get you started:

‘Viva la Diva’  at the KKL (Europaplatz 1, 6005 Luzern) presents soprano Simone Kermes accompanied by the Zurich Chamber Orchestra!  They will be preforming works from George Frideric Handel, Nicola Antonio Porpora, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and many more. If you are looking for an evening of ‘Glitter and Glamour’ then why not celebrate onboard motor ship Diamant.
