The LiLi Centre in February

This month lots of new events are happening. These special events include an introduction to pricing for small businesses, three CV workshops from JIFF, the international book club and a breathing & cold walk workshop . It is going to be another exciting month at the LiLi centre and we can’t wait to meet you at one of our events. Keep reading to find out more, and please don’t forget to sign up for events.

4. Feb – JIFF Workshop – Preparing for the Swiss Job Market

SESSION ONE: Preparing Your CV
This first session will be led by Denise Mattsson and is all about preparing your CV for the Swiss market. Your USP, your CV and selling yourself on paper. Participants should bring their CV’s with them on this evening.

5. Feb – Tuesday Lunch Soup

Every Tuesday there will be vegan soup and bread delivered for lunch to the LiLi centre for only CHF 5.- per person. If you would like to join send an email to Charlie Hartmann (charlie.hartmann@lilicentre.ch) latest on Monday evening.

8. Feb – Breathwork & Cold Walk

For winter swimmers, outdoor freaks and anybody else who is ready to experience winter in a different way.

We will be starting off with a few breathing exercises from yoga and beyond to mentally prepare us and warm us up from the inside. After this, we will be heading outside for a nightly walk in shorts.

8. Feb – The start of: Learn How To Communicate With Child Through Sign Language

This playgroup offers a fun and active time when children with their parent can learn to communicate with each other through some basic sign language.

8. Feb – The start of: Spielgruppe – 6 Month to 2 Years Old


Bond and immerse both parent and child in the German language in a fun, playful and interactive way! Through song, dance and games this group gives everyone the ability to practice / improve their German.

8. Feb – The start of: Spielgruppe 2 – 4 Years Old 

This group focuses more on the parent learning/practicing their German. This age specific group utilises games and activities for the children to learn the language, while letting parents have their own space or interact with the child as needed, all in the same room.

8. Feb – The start of: English Play Group – 2 Years and older

Games and activities, for the children to learn the language, while letting parents have their own space or interact with the child as needed, all in the same room.

11. Feb – JIFF Workshop – Preparing for the Swiss Job Market

SESSION TWO: LinkedIn and CV Follow-Up
The second session will be divided into two parts. The first will be led by Lina Petraviciute of Tuskwood MEDIA who will talk about LinkedIn, your social media profile and its importance. The second section will be led by Denise Mattsson and include follow-ups to CVs as well as looking at participants online profiles.

12. Feb – Job Seekers Group

Are you struggling trying to find work in Switzerland? Are you feeling isolated in your job search?

The LiLi centre has a self-help group for job seekers to meet others looking for work. The idea is to exchange tips, resources and build a network.

18. Feb – JIFF Workshop – Preparing for the Swiss Job Market

SESSION THREE: CV Interpretation and Strategic Volunteering
The final session will also be divided into two parts. The first section will be led by Dr Brandi Eijsermans of Optimal Wellness Global. How are your CVs interpreted by recruiters? How to make your weaknesses your USPs?! The second part will be led by Evelin Bermudez of Swiss International Volunteer Organisation – SIVO who will talk about strategic volunteering.

21. Feb – An Overview Of US and Swiss Taxes For US Citizens Living In CH

Would you like to understand why you might owe US income taxes while living in Switzerland?  Both your US and Swiss tax advisors will need to understand and apply the US/Switzerland income tax treaty in order to minimise your global tax liability.  Kathy Stanley, a recently retired US tax professional who practiced in Switzerland for 18 years, will provide an overview of how US federal income tax is calculated for an individual residing in Switzerland.  Peter Aschwanden a Partner with GHM Partners in Zug will provide an overview of the tax relief Switzerland provides for US source income reported on your Swiss income tax return.

26. Feb – International Book Club

How about getting together once a month to discuss novels featuring different countries and cultures by authors from all over the world? We will make our way around the globe, exploring and exchanging our thoughts around a cup of chai tea and Indian delicacies, or a cup of green tea and Chinese moon cakes or perhaps a cup of chocolate and Offleten?
