This year the LUGA celebrated its 40th year of existence. Known as the largest county fair in central Switzerland, the LUGA is loved by locals whether visiting the many stands selling everything from esoteric goods to tractors, their animal shows or the Luna Parc. This year was no exception and 120 000 visitors went to the Allmend to see this year’s edition.

13 000 braved the rain and cold yesterday and took part in the Stadtlauf downtown Lucerne. This race is in its 42 year and despite the weather the atmosphere was cheerful and fun. If you want to know what the results were, take a look here.

512 gamers met up in Sursee for a “Lock and Load” session which lasted from Friday to Sunday. The prizes were in the range of CHF 6000.- in comparison to some international events where up to 3 million francs could be won. Each gamer brought their own computers and accessories and were then hooked up over 6 kilometers of w-lan cable.

Yesterday winter came back, bringing up to 10 cms of fresh snow in St Gallen and much more in the mountains, with the sun shining today I expect some people may be heading for the slopes (in Engelberg) one last time.
